Give the collection a point of view

Select designs that share a campaign, occasion or visual language. A smaller, coherent collection can feel more intentional than a large set of unrelated graphics. Use physical samples to show texture, scale and the finished edge.

Match detail to construction

Woven, embroidered and leather patches produce different effects. Fine text, tonal shading and small shapes may translate differently. Review the artwork at finished size and confirm the construction before the menu is approved.

Limit combinations thoughtfully

Decide how many patches go on a cap and which positions are offered. Too many variations can make ordering and placement harder to communicate. Label the approved combinations and keep the display synchronized with remaining stock.

Illustrative planning scenario

Example: small lettering disappears in the sample

A detailed patch design looks clear when enlarged on screen, but its small lettering is difficult to read at the proposed finished size. Adjust the artwork, scale or construction before approving the collection. A larger digital preview does not solve a physical legibility problem.

A working decision sheet

Curate the collection at the size guests will actually see. Compare textures and borders using the proposed patch construction, and check the artwork against the cap shape. A coherent set can offer variety through message or composition without requiring an unlimited number of placements. Keep the sample menu connected to the real patch inventory.

Put it into your brief

  • What connects the patch collection visually?
  • Which details need a physical sample review?
  • How many patches and placements does the experience offer?

Use these questions to record the decisions you already know and identify what needs review. Keep the brief with the current product specifications and event documents.
